The Inevitable use of computer and its Physical and Technical issues

The modern age of technology is amazing, there were never such facilities that we find were never that much common before. When you think of technology, one of the most first things that hit your mind is computer. Computer technology has probably been the fastest advanced technology. Since last 4 or 5 decades the computer technology has developed from zero to the latest laptops. The computer that once was about the size of a room, but, it can be carried now in baggy pants. The computer technology has indeed witnessed some of the best changes. The computer was considered as an accessory some time before, but, now it has become a must have thing in the home as well as at work place.
Today, almost the whole infrastructure of all the countries is based on computer. Banks, airports, railways all are operated with the help of a computer. The government’s reliance on computers for the betterment is also increasing, they have a firm believe that with the help of computer, they can serve people better. The computer technology can help the government in making better plans for the public and making better estimates for giving the better living standard to their countrymen. The use of computer has become inevitable, no matter, you are a businessman, student, a housewife you need a computer to perform your daily routine work.
Where the computer has blessed us with so many facilities, it is impossible that there are no cons along with the pros. One of the disadvantages that the computer technology has is affecting the health of computer users. Sitting in front monitor for a long period damages the eyes of the computer user and influences the eyesight of the person. Other than the eyesight issue, constantly typing on the computer makes the person prone to injuries. The injury caused by constantly performing repetitive task is a Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) that cause pain in wrist joint, finger and neck joints. The injury can get so severe that it can end the career of a person.
Other than the physical and medical issues, there are some serious technical disadvantages of the computer usage. Where a computer has given you the luxury to save data that is easy to manage and requires less space for a huge amount of data, it also threatens the data security. The database is always on the target of hackers that can steal the data from his home or workplace from any part of the world. Small portable data storing devices are also a threat to data security. There is always a fair chance of losing data because of the small size of these portable drives such as USB flash drives.
There are a variety of threats that your data face every moment, to make the data secure you have to use Data Security Software that can protect your data. A data breach can cause a lot of problems. Last year more than 30 percent of data was stolen from the companies that had employees less than a hundred. It is a clear indication that not only big organizations are at the stake of losing data, but, also smaller companies as well as the individuals are on the target of data thieves.

Your Data is always at Risk of Breach—What to do?

As the modern world has brought many luxuries to our life, it has also brought some negatives. Where all the data in today’s world is kept digitally, it has created feasibility in saving data but, it has enhanced the chances of losing data. Our data is constantly bombarded with different kinds of threats. These threats may be from anywhere in the world, such as a hacker sitting in China and targeting the data of a person or a company that is resident in the United States. Hackers from China contribute more than 60 percent of the hacking incidents. Technology has made the world a global village, so there are some cons of being a global village.
Apart from hacking, the next biggest threat to data is the use of portable data storing device. The prosperity in the field of technology has made everything mobile. Like everything else, the data saved digitally has also become mobile and anyone can roam here and there carrying the data with him. But, these small portable data storing devices such as USB flash drives impose a greater threat to data. These USB drives are so small in size that taking care of them is itself a challenge. These tiny USB memory sticks are prone to getting lost and stolen. The data saved in these drives can easily be extracted out of them.
Another threat to data security is the insider employees of a company. As the employees have almost complete access to every sort of data, they can steal data and sell to the rival organization or keep it to blackmail the company. That is why IT experts advice the computer users to use data security software. A data loss or data theft can harm the company or an individual big time. It can haunt you for weeks, months or even years. It is one of the most precious assets that one needs to take care of. Securing data is a necessity in the present age, there is no margin for error for carelessness.

USB Drive—Great Invention but NOT Perfect!

The small USB flash drive offers great facility of carrying data around and rewrite data as many times as you please. But, this human size portable data storing device is not a safe carrier of data. It has high contributions in data breach that is why IT experts rate it as a huge threat to data security. Some of the biggest threats that this small jump impose to data are:
The Insider threats and Flash drive
The biggest threat to data is imposed by the online attacks from cyber criminals. However, about 15 percent of the attacks on the companies’ database come from inside. Moreover, the situation has been worsened due to the small USB flash drive that can save data up to terabytes and it can easily fit the thieve pocket. You must have heard about Edward Snowden who stolen National Security Agency’s (NSA) data and handed over to the media. He was just equipped with an ordinary USB memory stick. A USB drive can impose such hazardous threat, using security software like USB Block can help your cause of securing data.
Convenience is the Enemy
The greatest enemy of security without any doubt is convenience, and the same case is with cyber security. The USB flash drive that is hardly is the size of a human thumb and can store almost all of the data of an ordinary user. Employees tend to use their USB sticks to confidential data. The danger is that, these small portable data storing devices are very much prone to getting lost or stolen; all the data can easily be extracted out of the thumb drive.
Responsible for Spreading Malware
Research has suggested that almost more than a quarter of the malware is spread through USB flash drive. Hackers equip the flash drives with the infected programs and intentionally drop in public places. Almost half of these drives are plugged in the computer later that causes the computer to get infected.
There is no doubt that USB flash drive is an incredible invention, but, they should be operated with great care and responsibility. Otherwise, these drives will not take much time in turning into a curse rather than a blessing.
